Las Salinas, Cabo Rojo!
I had always seen photos of Las Salinas but I’d never got the opportunity to visit them, and honestly the photos taken do not make it justice. So getting into a car and taking a roadtrip to the west may sound like an excellent idea for the spring-summer season, where the colors of the Salinas are best appreciated. Las Salinas in Cabo Rojo is one of the most beautiful natural reserves on the island. This is a place that will simply take your breath away, as it is incredible to see such ecological ecosistems on the actuality. This attraction is free of charge and it’s just minutes from the Cabo Rojo Lighthouse (Los Morillos Lighthouse) where you can also appreciate and learn about the history of the salt market in Cabo Rojo. It is also very interesting to know the reasons that make up the reddish color of its waters, this being the large accumulations of salt (once the water’s evaporated) and the large concentration of prawns in the area. From this space it is possible to appreciate environments such as the dry forest, mangroves, small lagoons and beautiful crystalline beaches (Playa Sucia).
So do not think twice, take the route and head to Las Salinas and let this “caborrojeño” treasure surprise you. Also take advantage of the “photo-op” setting and get some pictures that you’ll never forget.

Las Salinas, Cabo Rojo!
Siempre había visto fotos de Las Salinas más nunca había tenido la oportunidad de visitar y honestamente las fotos tomadas no le hacen justicia, por lo que montarse en un auto y tomar camino hacia el oeste puede sonar como una excelente idea para la temporada de primavera-verano, donde mejor se aprecian los colores de las salinas. Las Salinas en Cabo Rojo son una de las reservas naturales más hermosas de la isla. Este es un lugar que simplemente te quitará el aliento, pues resulta increíble ver tal formación ecológica aún en la actualidad. Esta atracción es libre de costo y queda a minutos del Faro de Cabo Rojo (Faro Los Morillos) donde también se puede apreciar y a la vez aprender sobre la historia del mercado de sal en Cabo Rojo. Además es sumamente interesante conocer las razones que conforman el color rojizo de sus aguas, incluídas las grandes acumulaciones de sal (una vez evaporada el agua) y mayor concentración de langostinos en el área. Desde este espacio es posible apreciar entornos como el bosque seco, mangles, pequeñas lagunas y hermosas playas cristalinas (Playa Sucia).
Así que no lo pienses más, toma la ruta y dirígete a Las Salinas y deja que este tesoro caborrojeño te sorprenda. Así también aprovecha el entorno para unas lindas fotografías, así como hice yo.
